Good conversation on Katrina last meeting. It seemed to really impact us in a lot of different and interesting ways.

Prayer Requests:
Josh's leg
Curt's House and Work issues
Jason's next gathering - more control for the fluid flow :)

Proposal: It was suggested by a member that we meet at Flannery's (W. 9th St.) for a night-out meeting, as we did in the past in other locations. The idea is that this location would facilitate conversation well and, as with traditional Irish pubs, it is less prone to idiot-drunks. This would be the September 17th meeting. This would also provide a good oportunity to invite friends, as a bar is often less threatening to those who are less prone to attend a home group.

Comments on any of the following are welcome.

  • Well ok but maybe there is a surprise you men don't know about the weekend before and it might be a little repetetive???

  • I dunno, Mike, maybe we should move the Flannery's meeting until the first meeting we have in October? I like a good beer in October anyway.

  • lol - a Christian men's group in a bar?

  • Ha, yes, a Christian men's group in a bar. Although it goes against the norm, I can quickly think of the following reasons:
    1. Why shut ourselves out from those that don't follow Jesus?
    2. Drinking is NOT a sin (excessive drinking is a different story)
    3. Fellowship in our men's group should grow.
    4. Great chance to defend our faith and even do not-in-your-face evangelization.
    5. Great chance to be real with people, which is what people want...authenticity.

Lastly, I am going to really, really push to NOT have this meeting in September (I have a few reasons)

  • jason, drink the beer and eat chipolte's!

  • Jason, I think your friends or your inner voice(s) are speaking anonymously!

  • No, really - Jason is right. The American mentality for drinking is such a drugged attitude. We don't plan on getting hammered and picking up chicks and then calling it a "men's bible study." That would be asinine. We use the time to grow as friends and to challenge each other in their pursuit of God.

Anyway, we drink Guinness, the loaf of bread in a glass. Do you see the genius of the Irish? It is actually like breaking bread!
